Mercurio srl and I.T.I.S. Magistri Cumacini have made a shared commitment against violence against women

At the Magistri Cumacini Institute, the show “Tenendo per mano il sole” was held, an event designed to raise awareness among students on the issue of violence against women and promote deep reflection.

San Fermo della Battaglia/Como, 18 November 2024 - On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, La Mercurio Srl reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness of a crucial issue for society. The company, one of the first industrial companies in Como to obtain equal opportunities certification, has developed innovative corporate welfare policies, aimed at creating an inclusive work environment that respects diversity. These initiatives represent not only a corporate strategy, but a real cultural change that focuses on equality and the enhancement of the skills of each individual.

To give value to this day, which represents only the beginning of a new social vision, and to underline the importance of training and awareness among young people, La Mercurio Srl, in collaboration with the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale Magistri Cumacini, has decided to organize the theatrical show "Tenendo per mano il sole" created by the group "Ad Alta Voce". This event is designed for high school students in the area and aims to stimulate deep reflections through theater.

"For us, it is much more than an event: it represents a concrete declaration of our desire to contribute to a cultural change that puts equality and mutual respect at the center," comments Valeria Brambilla, owner and head of communications, marketing and special projects at La Mercurio Srl. "We are proud to be among the first companies in Como to have obtained equal opportunities certification, a testament to our dedication to developing innovative and inclusive corporate welfare policies. In this context, “Tenendo per mano il sole” fits in as a fundamental piece of our commitment. The initiative is not only a tribute to the women who have marked history with their courage and vision, but also an educational tool for new generations, refining their ability to reflect and overcome gender stereotypes."

The project involved some classes from the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale Magistri Cumacini, the ISIS Paolo Carcano and the CFP Canossa Como. The students will bring their interpretations of the female success stories proposed by the cast, enriching the show with personal and creative perspectives, the result of educational work carried out in collaboration with the teachers.

The show, which will be held on Friday 22 November at 9:30 am at the Istituto Magistri Cumacini in Como, is produced with the participation of the group “Ad Alta Voce” and will involve talented actresses such as Monica Aiello, Orsola Cerea, Abril Maria Del Valle, Emanuela Guglielmetti, Simona Elettra Lecchi, Simona Tansini, Viviana Trincavelli and Olivia Trecchi, under the direction of Sara Ghioldi, with the assistant direction of Sofia Bernasconi.

“Holding the Sun’s Hand” tells the stories of eight extraordinary women who, with courage and vision, have overcome the barriers of their time to leave an indelible mark on history. Among the figures represented are Maria Montessori, Luisa Spagnoli, Camilla Ravera, Fernanda Wittgens, Tina Modotti, Maria Lai and the Giussani sisters. Through their stories, the show explores themes of resilience, struggle and determination, offering points of identification and food for thought for young audiences.

"Theatre is a powerful vehicle of emotions and knowledge, and we are certain that this show will leave a deep mark on the young participants and the audience," Valeria Brambilla reiterates. "Mercurio Srl will continue to support initiatives like this, convinced that education and awareness are fundamental tools to break down barriers and build a more just and inclusive society."

The initiative represents an educational and training path that goes beyond a simple theatrical performance: it is a journey that encourages young people to recognize and challenge gender stereotypes and to build awareness on issues of equality and inclusion. In a society where stereotypes related to gender, social status and sexual orientation continue to influence behavior, events like this are essential to promote free and conscious choices.

"The Institute I preside over is always very attentive to these initiatives, because I deeply believe in the potential of boys and girls to receive stimuli that help them improve themselves and contribute to building an increasingly inclusive society," concludes Laura Francesca Rebuzzini, head teacher of ITIS Magistri Cumacini. "Not only that, our school is an integral part of the anti-violence network of the province of Como and, as such, is constantly at the forefront in hosting events on the most current social issues."
